Chairperson

Pauline Zimmer

536-1332

Exhibit Location: Cy Anderson Fellowship Hall

Entries will be accepted on Thursday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the exhibit location and must remain on display until 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, at which time they should be picked up along with their awards. Entries left beyond 6:30 p.m. will be disposed of.

Competition is open to Adult, Intermediate, and Junior exhibitors. All entries must have been prepared by the exhibitor. However, limited adult assistance may be given to Junior exhibitors.

An exhibitor is allowed one entry for each of the 37 classes. Each entry must have been canned since the last Ledyard Fair.

Each jar must be labeled with product name, date processed, and processing method (water bath or pressure canned). The exhibitor's name must not appear on the jar or label.

Only entries which are appropriately processed and displayed will be accepted (i.e. no wax, regulation jars, two piece dome lids with ring portion removed for display).  NO INVERTED JARS.  For information on canning, contact the Cooperative Extension Service, 887-1608.

Judging will be based on the following qualities: Appearance (color, careful preparation), Pack (proportion of liquid to produce, head space), Product (maturity, uniformity), Jar and Closure (clean, properly sealed, no ring, no wax), and Labeling (completeness, neatness). Ribbons will be awarded to any entry which is deserving in the eyes of the judges.

All exhibitors with two or more entries are eligible to complete for Sweepstakes prizes. The number of blue ribbons earned by an exhibitor determines the Sweepstakes placing in each age group. In case of a tie, the number of red ribbons will determine the winning places. Each Sweepstakes winner will receive a rosette, as well as the following cash prizes:
